Artemisia annua is a hairless plant native to China and naturalized in Europe.
How to plant:
Where and when to sow?
You can sow seeds indoors, as long as you place the seed tray in a bright spot. You can also sow outdoors under a shelter. If you sow outdoors, don’t forget to protect your tray with a net to avoid insects or birds pecking at the seeds :).
How to sow?
1. Dilute rooting powder with warm water and soak seeds for 6 to 8 hours: this will allow seeds to absorb water and promote rapid germination.
2. Sowing:
1) Prepare the nutrient soil, then water it (don’t pour the nutrient soil all the way in),
2) Scatter the soaked seeds over the surface of the soil around the pots. They must be scattered, not piled up, otherwise the germination rate will be affected.
3) After spreading, cover with soil 0.5 cm thick, mix with a small amount of rooting powder (a kind of fertilizer) and pour into the soil.
4) Cover the soil with plastic film (don’t forget to pierce the air and make holes for ventilation) and place it in a place that can conserve soil moisture (as there’s virtually no watering for plastic film),
5) Add a little fertilizer after germination to help the seedlings flower faster.
